A Kingly Tale

Three kings came to see the king and asked him where the new king was born. 

But the first king told the three kings that he didn't know where the second king was. 

His advisers looked in the Bible — though not in First or Second Kings — and found that the second king was to be born in Bethlehem. 

So the first king told the three kings to find the second king and tell him, the first king, where the second king was because the first king thought the second king was one king too many. 

But when the three kings found the second king they realized he was actually the king of kings — and that compared with him the other king, indeed all other kings, were really no kings at all.

The Ballad of Murdoch

Chaplain Charlie and the Lorica

My brother is flying out to Kuwait for a 2 year stint as head chaplain for the Middle East.  He'll get to come back stateside twice.  He just called me and asked me to please pray St. Patrick's Lorica for him while he is flying.  I told him I would do so every day while he is gone.  I'd like for others to joine me.  If you skip to the bottom, you'll find several versions you can easily sing.  But first ....  First, St. Patrick is, indeed, a real person.  If you'd like a short, surprisingly accurate and highly entertaining telling of his life, Veggie Tales has you covered .  In short, and with the understanding that parts of this can be contested, he was born in the late 4th century in Wales, was stolen by the Irish and was a slave/pig shepherd for most of his young life, escaped and went to France where he became a Bishop, received a dream of the Irish calling him back to preach to them, came back and was largely responsible for Christianity ...

Brian Thompson and Syndrome

The Titanic submarine sank killing all passengers in mid-June.  I was surprised at the glee some, even some people I knew to be very caring, had at their demise.  When I asked one person, they replied that all those rich bastards likely deserved it.  When I mentioned there were younger people on board, they said, "Well, they'd probably just grow up like their dads."  Kill Hitler as a baby, I guess?  I didn't quite get the vitriol JUST because they were rich.  And, I guess, reckless and stupid.   But the murder of Brian Thompson, the late United Healthcare CEO ... that one I get.  It's not just because he's rich.  It's because his wealth was founded on the deaths of so many people that he and his company wrongly denied healthcare coverage.  I don't think I need to go into the specifics of the murder.  It's covered a LOT in the media right now.  As is the reaction.  People are, again, gleeful.  But it's more than j...
